AZZURRI DOUBLE JANUARY – FEBRUARY MONTHLY SPECIAL

Our first monthly special of 2014 – the World Cup Year – is Azzurri Double, our interpretation of the classic Italian Doppio Malto style.  Azzurri Double is not brewed in the style of the Peroni Doppio Malto, which is a pale lager coloured beer, but in the style of the Birra Moretti La Rossa, a malty rich Doppio Malto.

The beer is brewed to 5% ABV with pale malt, dark crystal, Munich, Caramalt and chocolate malts.  The wort was hopped with Bobek Styrian Goldings hops from Slovenia.  Finally we fermented the beer with a classic lager yeast for a clean, sharp taste.  The malty flavour of the dark malts is balanced with the clean, mineral quality imparted by the yeast.  Hops prevail on the finish.

Azzurri Double is the first of a range of World Beers we are brewing in 2014, culminating in the British Bulldog Gold and the Amazon Black during the World Cup itself.
