Brewed in collaboration with beer aficionado Mellissa Cole, Oktoberwest is Westerham Brewery’s nod to the traditional Bavarian Oktoberfest Märzen beer.
Oktoberwest is an elegant, malty German Märzen amber lager with a clean, rich, toasty and bready malt flavour, restrained bitterness, and a dry finish that encourages another drink. The overall malt impression is soft, elegant, and complex, with a rich aftertaste that is never cloying or heavy.
We brewed this beer with Pilsner malt, Caramalt, Munich and Vienna malt. This selection of malts ensures a clean flavour profile while giving a nod to the more traditional beers used to celebrate Oktoberfest in years gone by before lighter lagers took over as a mainstay of the celebrations. We used noble German varieties of hops, for a moderate and slightly spicy bitterness.
Coming in at 5.6% ABV, the Noble Hops do not overpower the malt base, showing off the true qualities of the traditional malts which were historically used in this festive beverage.
